@Dieter

Ferrari 360M runs on Bridgestone Potenza S-02A tyres

The Bridgestone Potenza S-02A is an original equipment tyre choice for Ferrari's 360 Modena, which is the new model for the 21st century. Supplied in 215/45ZR18 (front) and 275/40ZR18 (rear) sizes, the Potenza S-02A has been selected for fitment on the mid-engined successor to the F355. The ultra high performance tyre incorporates a uni-directional tread pattern, giving enhanced wet performance and lower noise. Even contact pressure distribution is achieved through a new design concept for the crown area, while stiffer pattern blocks improve handling. An optimised slot angle adds to controllability, grip and durability
With the 360 Modena, a Ferrari V-8 engine is offered with either a six-speed manual or an F1-style electro-hydraulic gearbox. Extensive use of aluminium in the chassis and suspension, as well as the engine and bodywork, have reduced the total weight by some 34% compared with its predecessor. Advanced aerodynamics and suspension engineering ensure that the car retains stability under all conditions.

Key goals in the selection of wheels and tyres were to reduce aquaplaning and increase driving fun. Extensive testing demonstrated that the use of smaller front and larger rear tyres, respectively mounted on 7.5- and 10-inch rims, also gives considerable improvements in handling, grip and uniformity of wear.

According to Ferrari F1 team driver Michael Schumacher, "In terms of handling on a high speed circuit it gives a good sensation of control. It's also a very light car, in which the tyres play an important role; driving on a mixture of road types the driver will notice this immediately."

"Successful teamwork in Formula 1 has added a new dimension to the long-standing partnership between Ferrari and Bridgestone", adds G. L. Meade, Senior Vice President for Original Equipment sales at Bridgestone/Firestone Europe S.A. " It is especially satisfying to supply Bridgestone tyres to this, Ferrari's most recent and striking vehicle".
